A Newport pensioner charged with 7 sexual offences has seen his case sent to the Isle of Wight Crown Court.
Neil Gillies, 73, of St James’ Street, appeared before Magistrates on Friday charged with 1x offender 18 or over attempt to cause a child aged 13-15 to watch/look at an image of sexual activity, 2x adult attempt to engage in sexual communication with a child, 3x breach of a sexual risk order and 1x sex offenders register – fail to comply with notification requirements.
Liz Miller, prosecuting, outlined some brief details of the case and said that Gillies’ alleged crimes were discovered by undercover police officers posing as children.
It is alleged that all of the offences took place between April and September 2021.
Gillies didn’t enter a plea to any of the offences.
The 73-year-old will next appear at the Isle of Wight Crown Court for a plea and trial hearing on 15th February.
