The Crown Court case against a man from Ryde who was accused of harbouring images of beastiality on his computer has been discontinued following his death.
Richard Younie, formally of Sutton Close in Ryde, was due to see his case heard at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on Monday, however, proceedings have now been stopped following news of his passing.
He was accused of storing 29 images that were allegedly found in the temporary internet cache of his computer. The images were said to depict extreme sex acts between dogs, donkeys and horses and humans. The images were found when Police seized his laptop for an unconnected matter.
Younie first appeared in court in August 2021. He maintained a not guilty plea throughout all of his appearances in court.
In 2021, Younie suffered from 2 strokes but made a recovery to go on to Walk the Wight for charity.
Barry McElduff, prosecuting, told the court that Younie had been admitted to hospital during proceedings and that he passed away on 12th October 2022.
The indictment was endorsed and the file against Richard Younie was closed.
