UPDATED: Although the Island has escaped snow, strong winds have led to cancellations on a number of cross-Solent services this morning (Saturday).
Red Funnel have cancelled their 10:30 & 12:00 car ferry sailings from Southampton and the 12:00 & 13:30 sailings from East Cowes. However, the hi-speed Red Jet service remains in operation.
Meanwhile out West, Wightlink have temporarily suspended their service with the cancellation of the 10:00 sailing from Lymington. The next sailing is at 12:05 from Yarmouth and the service is running on a boat-by-boat basis.
Scoot Ferries have suspended both their Cowes-Portsmouth and Yarmouth-Lymington services until further notice.
Hovertravel are running to their normal winter timetable.
On dry land, trees have fallen in Quay Lane, Brading; Hollow Lane, Godshill and Manor Road, Lake. At Hyde Road in Shanklin, a vehicle has sustained damage when a large branch fell.
Properties in the Parkhurst and Horsebridge Hill area of Newport are without water due to a burst water main. Contractors are working to resolve the issue and have set up temporary traffic lights on Cowes Road.
UPDATE @ 12:20 – Scoot Ferries are to remain suspended until 15:15.
Another tree has fallen at Hyde Road in Shanklin and a tree has also come down on the nearby cycle path.
In Ryde, emergency services have responded to a dangerous structure.
UPDATE @ 13:09 – Red Funnel’s car ferry service is to resume at 13:30 from Southampton, the operator have confirmed. The next service from East Cowes is at 15:00.
The Red Jet service is now experiencing delays of 10 minutes.
UPDATE @ 15:45 – Cross-Solent services have returned to normal this afternoon.
