James Veal, Stuart Waite and Jerry Cooper of Wightlink-Wight Mountain Cycle Race Team travelled to Thruxton last Tuesday to compete in the 3rd Cat race.
James made several attacks in the early stages but was brought back by the bunch. With 7 laps to go, Stuart put in a dig, breaking away with 2 other riders and was looking good for a podium place if he could stay away. Unfortunately, this was not his night – the bunch caught him on the last lap, and he was brought down in a crash involving a number of riders as they started their sprint to the line.
Thankfully, he only suffered minor injuries.
Jerry was hampered by the crash but managed to stay upright and cruised home with the main bunch.
James finished strong to be the best placed WLWM rider on the night.
