UPDATED: Cowleaze Hill between Shanklin and Ventnor has been closed following a road traffic collision this afternoon (Thursday).
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, Police and ambulance crews are attending the incident after being called to the scene at just before 15:50.
A car, a silver Honda Civic, has collided with a tree however no one has been seriously injured in the crash. The vehicle has sustained serious front-end damage.
The incident has occurred half way between the bottom of Cowleaze Hill and the Devil’s Chimney, where Cowleaze Hill becomes Bonchurch Road.
Motorists are being diverted via Wroxall. The road has been closed at Shanklin Old Village.
UPDATE @ 16:50 – One person, the driver of the car, has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital. They have not suffered any serious or life-threatening injuries.
Recovery of the vehicle has been arranged.
UPDATE @ 17:55 – The Honda Civic has been recovered from the scene by Stag Lane Motors.
The road has now reopened.
