COWES ROTARY SPREADS CHRISTMAS CHEER TO LOCAL ELDERLY RESIDENTS

Members of Age UK Isle of Wight recently enjoyed a delicious Christmas lunch, some magical entertainment and a visit from a Father Christmas courtesy of Cowes Rotary Club.

The 25 ladies and gents who enjoyed the festive afternoon are members of Age UK Isle of Wight’s Cowes Community Memory Group and Cowes Active Networks Social Club.

Cowes Rotary Club traditionally provide Christmas lunch each year for some of community’s older, local residents and this year’s celebration at the New Holmwood Hotel was no exception.

Guests enjoyed a glass of sherry, traditional Christmas lunch, coffee and mince pies and were entertained by magician ‘Stevo’ (Steve Hull), a member of the Magic Circle, who also doubles up as a serving Police Community Support Officer. Their afternoon was topped off with a visit from Father Christmas and a small gift to take home.

Cowes Rotary President, Keith Breeze said:

“This has been a fabulous lunch event. Cowes Rotary are only too pleased to help some of our older Cowes residents with Christmas dinner and companionship for an afternoon.

“Christmas can be a very hard time of year for some of our older islanders”.
