Cowes Enterprise College has been forced to closed its doors for the rest of the week to enable a deep clean to take place after an individual tested positive for COVID-19.
Although the majority of children have been off school since March, the College has remain opened for the children of key workers and others who qualify.
It is unclear if the infected individual was a pupil, teacher, or other.
In a statement issued this afternoon (Monday), Rachel Kitley, Principal of Cowes Enterprise College, said:
“We have temporarily closed the academy until 18th May for a full deep clean of the building because of a positive test for COVID-19 of an individual who has been in the school.
“This week-long closure is longer than the minimum recommended but we want to take every precaution to ensure the safety of our students and staff, which is our top priority. We have informed Public Health England as a matter of course.
“When the academy re-opens, it will initially be, again, for vulnerable children and children whose parents are classed as key workers.”
The school will re-open next Monday (18th May).
