UPDATED: A cordon is in place surrounding the driveway of a home in Gunville this morning (Wednesday) following an overnight incident, in which it is said a man was ‘stabbed‘.
Police have erected a cordon at a terraced home on Pine View Drive off Spring Walk as a result of the alleged assault, which is understood to have occurred sometime around midnight.
The victim of the supposed stabbing was conveyed by ambulance to St Mary’s Hospital.
It is thought 1 person has been arrested in connection with the incident.
UPDATE @ 09:20 – Police have confirmed that no knife or bladed implement was involved in the incident, however an assault did take place resulting in actual bodily harm.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary has said:
“Police received a report of an altercation between two men at an address in Pine View Drive, Newport on the evening of Tuesday, March 14. A 19-year-old man sustained ABH injuries.
“A 24-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and has been released without charge”.
