COMMONWEALTH FLAG RAISED ABOVE RYDE

The Commonwealth Flag is flying high above Eastern Gardens in Ryde this week following its raising yesterday (Monday) to mark the annual Commonwealth Day.

Deputy Lord Lieutenant John Matthews, Mayor Henry Adams and Council Chairman Cllr Lora Peacey-Wilcox came together alongside local school children and students from the Military Preparation College to mark the occasion.

The rain held off allowing the simple but important ceremony to take place.

Standard Bearers were accompanied by members of the Wight Diamonds Marching Band.
