Police and Crime Commissioner Donna Jones is launching a new taskforce that will bring together the organisations locally that need to work together to tackle anti-social behaviour, which is a top concern for residents across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
Data shows that between 1st April 2020 and 31st March 2021 there were a total of 37,325 incidents recorded as ASB, with alcohol, drugs and youth-related incidents being the most common in the 2 counties.
The new taskforce will be a collaboration with the Police and Crime Commissioner and Hampshire Constabulary, with Hampshire Constabulary District Commanders taking a lead role. Local stakeholders and partners will be invited to attend to discuss and tackle specific problems and issues that require action beyond policing alone. Tackling ASB is primarily through Community Safety Partnerships (CSP), local authorities, Police and Community Support Officers (PCSOs) and registered social landlords
Today’s news comes at the start of the first-ever National Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week (19th-25th July).
Commissioner Jones said:
“Residents and businesses across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight have told me that they are concerned about the growing rise of anti-social behaviour. Vandalism, street drinking, irresponsible driving and other unacceptable behaviours leave people feeling alarmed, harassed or distressed, and ultimately unsafe in their local community. As Police and Crime Commissioner, I take this very seriously and working with partners to tackle ASB will be a priority.”
Chief Inspector Humphries of Hampshire Constabulary has said:
“ASB is often downplayed and seen as low level or unimportant but the reality is ASB can cause misery to people’s lives and affect whole communities. This first national ASB awareness week provides an opportunity to highlight local ASB themes, ways of reporting and action being taken like the creation of the new taskforce”.

The Commissioner and Chief Inspector Humphries will be answering questions about anti-social behaviour and the new taskforce live on the Hampshire Constabulary’s Facebook page on Wednesday (21st July) at 18:30.

All very nice words, but where is the manpower to make it real.
as usual – another waste of money with no action – all that will happen is that a load of chit chat takes place, the commissioner and others get paid for the meeting and then nothing.
You do not need a meeting to solve this issue – it is simple.
More police on the beat, providing a visible presence, with the ability to issue a fine on the spot, or to arrest the person, if it is in their opinion that a fine will not likely be paid or couldn’t be paid.
These individuals then need to have their access to all state benefits cut until they can behave themselves and not waste our time, drinking our tax money on the sea front all day long.
Just another waste of time. However an excellent opportunity to have some more tea and cake, lots of cake.

Yesterday no quiet peaceful Sunday evening, had to endure noise & smells from barbecues nearby, in a small built up area.My friend in another street unable to sit in his garden as neighbors all around were out in force, balls thudding against fences, dogs barking continually & adjoining neighbors laughing & shrieking hysterically extremely loudly & then the neighbor on the other side of him decided to have a party in his garden, complete with loud thumping music, my friend asked him to please turn it down & was shouted at to F off u C***
Hooligans always seem to get away with it, especially the ones the run rural pubs.
the police and authorities are chicken scared and only do the jobs because they think it gives them power….until they are faced with ASB and they run away and hide
