Police are appealing for the public’s help as they investigate 2 burglaries in Newport over the past week, in which expensive items such as a Playstation and an iPad were stolen.
The incidents occurred in the Newport Town Centre area on Friday 19th February and on Monday 22nd February.
It’s said that the offender entered residential properties through an unlocked door during the night and stole a number of items, including a wallet, Playstation and iPad. Officers are asking Islanders if they have seen a discarded wallet, or perhaps have been offered, or know someone who has been offered, such electronics for sale.
Anyone who lives in the vicinity of the town centre and thinks they may have been the victim of a walk-in burglary in recent days, but have not called the Police, are urged to do so.
Furthermore, households in Trafalgar Road, Castle Street, Melbourne Street, Clifford Street, The Mall, Drill Hall Road, Collingwood Road, East View, West View, New Street and West Street are being asked to contact Police if they have external CCTV or Ring Doorbells.
Police also say that they have recovered foreign currency which they believe has been stolen but not yet reported.

Not for the first time, it is not Castle Street (which is in Carisbrooke), but Castle Road.
