UPDATED: Three cars have collided in icy conditions on Smallbrook Lane in Ryde this morning (Friday).
Emergency services including the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene at the hump back bridge at around 08:00.
At least 2 people are thought to have been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital, however they are not thought to have sustained any life-threatening injuries.
The road remains closed whilst the vehicles are recovered. Island Roads are carrying out a gritting run of the road.
Meanwhile in Gurnard, two vehicles have slid off the road on Cockleton Lane, where ambulance and fire crews are now reported to be in attendance. One vehicle has come off the road and into a hedge on Middle Road near Calbourne also.
Stroudwood Road is Ryde towards Havenstreet is also reported to be icy with drivers getting into difficulty.
At 08:00 two cars were involved in a minor collision at Knighton, where black ice was present across the carriageway. The incident has now been cleared. A collision has also occurred on Bleak Down, Niton.
UPDATE @ 10:08 – One person has been freed from their vehicle by firefighters and a pedestrian has been treated for grazes following a collision on Cockleton Lane, Gurnard. It comes after another two vehicles slid into hedges lining the carriageway.
The incident at Smallbrook Lane has been cleared.
