overturnedkayaverland2UPDATED: Emergency services are currently attending a road traffic collision in Yaverland near Sandown in which a car has overturned and come to rest on its roof.

Firefighters from Sandown, paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and Police were called to the scene on Yaverland Road near the church at around 21:30 this evening (Monday).

A silver Ford Ka has ended up on its roof in the incident, which has not involved any other vehicles. It is believed the car rolled over twice.

No one is believed to have been seriously injured in the crash.

Yaverland Road is currently closed in both directions whilst recovery of the vehicle is arranged.

UPDATE @ 23:00 – Yaverland Road has now reopened in both directions. The vehicle has been recovered by Bartletts Service Station.

One male has received medical attention, however has not been conveyed to hospital.

Hampshire Constabulary’s Dog Support Unit is searching the verge of the carriageway close to the scene.
