Burger King is set to re-open a number of its drive-thru restaurants from next Monday, including here on the Isle of Wight.
The fast food giant closed its doors back in March as a result of the coronavirus lockdown.
It has now been confirmed that Islanders will once again be able to order their favourite takeaway by paying a visit to the Furlongs branch at Coppins Bridge, Newport from Monday 18th May. A total of 72 branches will re-open next week.
Unfortunately, a limited menu will be on offer for the time being. Details of this limited menu and exact store opening times are yet to be announced.
Burger King will be issuing masks and gloves to all employees and will adhere to social distancing guidelines. There will also be strict cleaning regimes.
The Government has said that fast food takeaways such as McDonalds and KFC can re-open, so it will only be a matter of time before those living on the Isle of Wight can once again enjoy a Big Mac or Zinger Tower meal.
UPDATE – It has now been claimed that the original opening date of 18th May has been scrapped, with a new date yet to be confirmed.
