Organisers of the Brighstone Christmas Tree Festival have taken the premature decision not to run this year’s event.
It’s said that the annual festival couldn’t possibly accommodate social distancing, even though all legal restrictions on socialising are due to be relaxed on 21st June and it looks likely social distancing will be abolished soon after.
On the flip side, the Isle of Wight Festival is aiming to host 50,000 people in September – at least 2 months before the time that the Christmas Tree festival would normally be held.
It’s also said that the committee does not have the time to make all the arrangements in the time available and many of the sponsors are not in a position to support the event after a very hard 15 months or so.
Chris Goodman, Festival Organiser, has said:
“In the light of a possible upturn in the pandemic, it seemed the most responsible action to take. We hope you understand and look forward to hopefully seeing you in 2022”.
These mutant strains of CV will continue to haunt the world, and us, being a holiday Island will be one of the worst hit after a busy Summer and all the DFL people now living but often still having contract with infected areas on a weekly basis.
