6 brave fundraisers challenged their fear of heights earlier this week by abseiling down the Emirates Spinnaker Tower to raise money for local charity, The Wight Brainy Bunch.
The sun was shining down on the group on Sunday (27th May) allowing for stunning views across the Solent, which may have taken their mind off the 170m drop below.
The Wight Brainy Bunch was set up to help families on the Island going through one of the most challenging times of their life, in addition to raising funds for research into brain tumours and Smile4Wessex (The Wessex Neurological Centre in Southampton).
The Wight Brainy Bunch was set up by Mark Grimes and his wife Kathryn following Mark’s diagnosis of a brain tumour in February 2015. The charity help families on the Island going through one of the most challenging times of their life, as well as raising funds for research into brain tumours.
For 3 of those taking part in the fundraising abseil it was quite a personal challenge having previously had brain tumours themselves.
Lisa Hendy of Novum Law, who regularly sponsor The Wight Brainy Bunch’s events, took part in the abseil herself and said:
“The event took place on a glorious sunny day and some of us would even do it again! The views from the top are incredible and it’s amazing to be able to help such a worthwhile cause.
“We would like to thank everyone who sponsored us to do the event”.
