The skipper of a motor cruiser has been taken ashore by the RNLI after his vessel ran aground at the entrance to Bembridge Harbour this morning (New Years Day).
Bembridge RNLI’s inshore lifeboat was tasked by Solent Coastguard at around 07:10 after the 27ft ‘Jump’ became high and dry on a sandbank as the tide fell.
The gentleman has been transferred to dry land by the D-class lifeboat, which has since returned to station.
The casualty vessel has been anchored and will be refloated at high tide.
