BESTIVAL TEAM REVEAL ‘COMMON PEOPLE’ LINE UP

Clean_BanditFollowing last month’s announcement of a brand new event from the team behind the award-winning Bestival, the line up for Common People, to be held in Southampton in May, has been revealed – with attractive tickets packages available for Islanders.

The brand new two-day metropolitan adventure will be held at Southampton Common on 23rd & 24th May and will feature world renowned DJs, pop behemoths, underground legends and more, with all with lashings of Bestival’s unique magic, mayhem and merriment thrown in for good measure.

fatboyslimcommonpeopleThe first day of the event will see the legendary Fatboy Slim headlining, with performances from De La Soul, Jaguar Skills, Funky Little Choir and DJs Dusky, Huxley, Dense & Pika, Leon Vynehall, Luca Pilato and Jordan McKinlay in the Big Top.

The headliner for Sunday is yet to be revealed, but the second day will see Clean Bandit (pictured above), Band of Skulls, DJ Yoda, The Cuban Brothers, Craig Charles and West End kids take to the stage. DJs will include Rob Da Bank himself, Derrick Carter, Friend Within, Toyboy and Robin and Muddywellies.

Common People curator, Rob da Bank said:

“It’s been a long time coming to launch a new show from the Bestival family. We thought long and hard before deciding to base our new show in Southampton… I played my first ever DJ gig in Southampton when I was 16, so this is a real home coming for me.

“As with everything we do at Bestival HQ, we have really put our heart and soul into this show, from big headliners to very hot new talent and old faves, the music is so important, but equally the food, the cocktails, the layout of the show, the kids area, the sound and lights and the decor will be second to none. Thanks a mill to the council and good people of Southampton and the south coast for welcoming us over to the mainland! Viva Common People!”

Bestival’s creative team will be flexing visionary moves, taking the spirit of Bestival to the heart of Southampton, transforming the common into a world of wonder. Amongst the hysteria you will find plenty of mind-boggling Common People antics including the woven magic of Yarn Bombing, legendary Mr Motivator Workouts, and psychedelic 19th century salon, The People’s Front Room.

A whole host of fantastical fun, daytime diversions, amusements and good times will entertain one and all including, Bigtopmania Circus, Lost & Found, Tree House Theatre, Big Foot the Clown Show, The Fez Heads, Big Bears Big Balloon Disco, Big Bubble Bash, Trapeze lessons, Circus Skills, Crazy Inflatable bundle madness, Face Painting, Toddlers Play Area, Craft tents, Welly Wanging, Morris Dancing, Hoedowns, and Brass Bands.

redfunnelogoCommon People promoters have been hard at work ensuring that Islanders are in on the action for the epic Bestival warm-up, too. Red Funnel has put together a series of ticket and travel packages for the event with day return foot passenger travel costing just £9.20.

Not only will Red Funnel be offering ticket packages, they will also be running late services on Bank Holiday Saturday 23rd May and Sunday 24th May to ensure Isle of Wight-based revellers can get home without missing a note of Common People’s headliners.
