The wet and stormy weather is set to continue into the new week according to the Met Office, who have issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain.
Bands of heavy showers will affect parts of southern Britain throughout today (Sunday) and into this evening, with the main focus of bad weather moving in overnight and into Monday morning, before clearing East. The warning is in place for 12 hours from 21:00 tonight until 09:00 tomorrow morning.
Last night saw torrential downpours, hail and lightning, as captured by Island Visions photographer Jamie Russell. In Ryde, the area of Oakfield was hit by a short power cut during the early hours following a lightning strike in the area.
The odd thunderstorm can be expected as today progresses.
