UPDATED: Several arrests have been made by Police tonight (Tuesday) following a serious assault on a young teenage girl outside McDonalds in Newport.
Officers were called to the scene at around 21:20 after the female – believed to be aged around 16 – was assaulted by a group of youths. Island Echo understands the girl was knocked unconscious in the incident after being kicked in the head.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service have rushed to the scene and have conveyed the teen to St Mary’s Hospital tonight. Meanwhile at least 2 people are thought to have been arrested on suspicion of assault and have been taken to Newport Police Station for questioning.
UPDATE WEDNESDAY: Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that a 16-year-old girl has been arrested with regards to the assault and is due to attend Newport Police Station with an adult.
