Hampshire Constabulary are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a serious collision involving a motorbike and a parked Ford Transit van on Rink Road, Ryde.
As first reported by Island Echo on Tuesday, the incident occurred at around 23:20 on Sunday night but the rider, a 19-year-old man from Ryde, remained injured on the floor for around 2 hours before he was discovered and the emergency services were called.
Police were alerted to the incident at 01:00 but the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were not notified until 01:53, by which time the man had spent a significant amount of time on the ground in sub-zero temperatures.
The rider remains in Southampton General Hospital in a critical but stable condition. It is understood he in a medially induced coma.
The motorbike is described as a small silver trials bike/dirt bike.
Police would like to hear from anyone who saw the incident, or saw this bike in the Ryde area between 23:00 and 23:30 on 7th February, to help build a picture of the events leading up to the collision.

One assumes few legit people would be around in a lock down at that time of night to have any evidence, hence the person was left for so long before being discovered.
