An Isle of Wight woman, who was told by a judge she had 3 months to improve her behaviour before she would be sentenced for a GBH offence, has seen her case pushed back
24-year-old Megan Durham, who faces a custodial sentence for stabbing a woman in the head with a chisel, has seen her sentencing hearing pushed back once again after the listed judge wasn’t sitting.
The hearing was due to be conducted on Monday (12th December) at Bournemouth Crown Court.
Durham, previously of Osborne Road in Shanklin, left the 41-year-old victim with injuries to her head and leg during the serious assault at an address on Atherley Road on 22nd November last year.
Police were called to the scene at 22:40 and officers arrested 3 women. Durham was later charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon, with the 2 other women released without charge.
This delay in proceedings is not the first during this case though after adjournments in May, July and September of this year.
Back in September Island Echo revealed that the 24-year-old was handed what is known as a deferred sentence, meaning she had 3 months to improve her behaviour.
At that hearing on Friday 9th September, Durham was made subject to a restraining order with immediate effect.
It is unclear at this moment in time when the case will next be heard, but it is expected to most likely be in the new year.
and if that had been a man, he would still be on remand – disgusting discrimination against men.
100% Agree, because they are on the blob, they get away with murder…lol.
Myself personally am still waiting for a crown court date in which i pleaded not guilty on all charges at the magistrates court over 18 months ago.
Nothing but a waste of tax payers money IMO.
Also it has been a massive mental strain on myself and wife and children.
All because of the Shanklin brat pack coke heads and their rich parents and secret hand shakes. Local plod are even thick or corrupt or both……..imo.

She should already be doing time – a man committing the same act would already be in a cell – disgusting light treatment because of being a female.
If something doesn’t make sense, and her being free doesn’t, it’s likely bullsh*t. Something else is happening here… She should be inside. I wonder what it is?
