UPDATED: Emergency services are attending a 2-car road traffic collision on Parkhurst Road, Newport this morning (Wednesday).
A red Suzuki Swift and a dark red Mazda 2 have been involved in the crash outside HMP Isle of Wight and opposite St Mary’s Hospital.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has been called the short distance to the scene, but no one is thought to have sustained any serious injuries.
Police are also in attendance.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area for the time being, with 1 side of the carriageway (heading towards Cowes) currently blocked.
UPDATE @ 12:12 – 3 people are being conveyed across the road to St Mary’s Hospital, including a mother and her child.
No serious injuries have been sustained.
Recovery of the vehicles has been arranged.
UPDATE @ 12:21 – The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has been called to the scene, more than 30 minutes after the incident occurred.
