The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has been scrambled to an injured horse rider who has fallen on the beach at Yaverland this evening (Tuesday).
Paramedics and a Critical Care Doctor from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are on scene in Sandown.
They are being joined on scene by the flying medics, who were scrambled from their base at Thruxton at just gone 19:00.
Island Echo understands the rider has come off their horse on the beach.
Due to the location of the emergency, Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team are also in attendance.
UPDATE @ 19:50 – The air ambulance has been stood down en-route, indicating the injuries are not as severe as first feared.
UPDATE @ 20:40 – The casualty has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
