Who have you spoken to today, this week or this month? Think of all the people you have spoken to and now think about how silent life would be if you removed all of those conversations.
Imagine if television or radio was your only company, all day, every day, and even on Christmas day. That’s what life is like for more than 1 million older people who are chronically lonely, who don’t have someone to share daily life with. Many of whom will be entirely alone this Christmas.
Age UK Isle of Wight have launched the ‘No One Should Have No One’ appeal to raise funds to allow them to provide more companionship and support to older residents on the Island, not only at Christmas but year round too.
Loneliness is a growing problem for older people on the Island. 1 in 6 older Islanders aged 65+ live alone. Loneliness can be as harmful for our health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day.
You can help Age UK Isle of Wight to continue their vital work by texting Noel44 £5 to 70070 to donate £5 or by visiting https://bit.ly/NoOne2018.
The ‘No One Should Have No One’ campaign is kindly supported by Megan Baker Estate Agents.
