A man charged with making nuisance calls to the emergency services, despite a community protection notice in place preventing him from doing so, has seen his case adjourned until 28th May. Michael Clifton-Smith, 36, of High Street in Ventnor, appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Friday (26th April) charged with persistently making use of a public communication network to cause annoyance/inconvenience/anxiety, as well being an individual failing to comply with a community protection notice. It is alleged that the offences occurred between 15th November 2023 and 13th March 2024. The case has been adjourned until 28th May to allow Mr Clifton-Smith to seek legal representation. He has been granted unconditional bail until that time.

This guy again, this must be a mental illness, a strong case for reopening asylums.
Asylum should never have been closed.
A few days of electricity shock therapy soon made many think straight and now would have sorted the spongers out from the genuine or self inflicted crack pots from drugs.
We need to go backwards to go forward
You may have a point. Back in the day people could be sent to an asylum for things like hysteria, irrational beliefs in the face of evidence, persecution complexes and general stupidity.
And women who were going through the menopause. One thing search engines, such as Google, allow us to do is find historical information about the society that once was, such as a nipper being deported to Australia for stealing an apple.
Anyone breaking the speed limit should be sent to an Asylum,
the backward B’stards will never learn.
You lead the way!
Not like the old bill do any work in the first place
Probably because it is the only freephone number in the UK for sad, bored people. All the others are £3 a minute, multiple choices and then keep you hanging on for 10 minutes… 🙂 Okay… I am joking… 🙁
