Riverfest is returning to Newport Quay today (Saturday), with families from across the Isle of Wight expected to descend on the town for a full day of entertainment, live performances and community activities.
The popular annual event takes place between 10:00-16:00 and is being organised by the Newport Carnival and Community Events Association.
The Quay area will be filled with a mix of arts and crafts traders, charity stalls and market vendors, alongside food outlets and an onsite bar.
Children will be able to enjoy face painting, fairground rides and a live magic and illusion show during the day. The event will also feature displays from emergency services, while Wolfguard Vikings are set to make a return appearance to entertain crowds.
Entertainment begins early on the main stage, with the Vectis Corps of Drums Marching Band opening proceedings before the crowning of Newport Carnival Royalty.
Throughout the afternoon, visitors can watch performances from Ali’s Fitness Fusion, Steve and Magic Kai and the Boogie-Woogie Bluebirds 1940s Trio.
Honky-Tonk Highway will close the main entertainment programme with a performance running into the late afternoon.
Away from the main stage, both the Medina Marching Band and the Fat Samba Band will be performing around the event site during the day. Riverfest is scheduled to finish at 16:00.
The team behind the event have been planning and organising for the last 4 months.
