With just a week to go until all coronavirus restrictions are lifted, the Isle of Wight Council is encouraging people to avoid popular tourist spots and instead find space in places off the beaten track.
The Council has put together a list of hidden – and not so hidden – spots on the Island where you can #findyourspace. On the list are places that are easy to get to, with parking or bus stops nearby, and will hardly ever get crowded.
Perhaps you will take a wander through the magical woodlands at Bonchurch Landslip this summer, or try the new willow maze at Golden Hill Country Park.
The #FindYourSpace locations
- Gurnard Beach, near Cowes
- Fort Victoria, Yarmouth
- Golden Hill Country Park, Norton Green
- Pan Mill Meadows, Newport
- Bonchurch Landslip and the Devil’s Chimney, Luccombe
- Brading Down, Brading
- Culver Down, near Bembridge
- Pig Leg Lane, Ryde

Councillor Julie Jones-Evans, portfolio holder for tourism, said:
“The Island is full of beautiful countryside and beaches, but some are busier than others. Everyone on the Island has their favourite places, and now’s a great time to try some new ones.
“If friends and family come to see you this year, tell them not to follow the crowds, get out to somewhere spacious! We all need to look out for each other this summer. Finding somewhere off the beaten track to meet up is a great way to keep the Island safe.
“You can expand the council’s list of special places with lots of space – can you think of a place you might want to add on?
If any of your favourite spaces are missing, post a photo of them on social media using #FindYourSpace.
