86-year-old Mary Whettingsteel from Calbourne has soared above the cliffs of the West Wight in aid of Cancer Research UK.
Strapped to experienced paraglider Pad Court of High Adventure Paragliding, Mary took a big leap from high up above Compton on Monday (2nd September) to complete a tandem paraglide along the coast and back.
Mary says:
“I’m a fit 86 year old who has been fortunate to avoid ill health and want to raise funds for Cancer Research. Why? Because I like a challenge.
“We watch loved ones deal with the diagnosis, treatment and recovery [of cancer] and so I want to help and support in any way that I can.
Over £700 has already been raised through Mary’s online donation page, with 100% of the funds raised going to Cancer Research UK. It is hoped £1,000 can be raised.
