6 determined members of the Wootton Bridge Runners are taking on the challenge of the Virgin Money London Marathon this year.

For 4 of them – Kelly Peach, 33; Laura Holme, 41; Sue Hallett, 46 and Paul Singleton, 60 – this Sunday’s London Marathon will be their 1st ever marathon. Tillie Moore, 28 and Tanya Hunt, 42, will be tackling their 2nd and 3rd marathons respectively.

All 6 runners have followed dedicated training plans for the last 16 weeks, including club runs and Island fun runs and races. 5 of them who have charity places have also had to raise from £1,250 to £4,000 each for 3 different charities: Wessex Cancer Trust (Kelly, Sue, and Tillie) Children with Cancer (Tanya Hunt) and Nerve Tumors (Paul Singleton in memory of his son Asa). Laura gained a ballot place and has raised money for MIND.

Laura Holme said:

“Having the chance to run in London Marathon is a dream come true for most of us, we have put hours of training in to make sure we can do our best on the day, but most of all we all want to enjoy the atmosphere and complete an iconic marathon”.
