A planning application has been submitted to build 6 houses in between a garage and a graveyard on a busy road in Ryde.
Proposals have been put forward to construct 6x 3-bedroom houses on Great Preston Road on an area of unmanaged grassland field between Westridge Garage and St John’s Graveyard.
The application has been made on behalf of the executors of Mrs D Brading (deceased).
The section of land is not part of the Pennyfeathers scheme, which will see a further 900+ homes built to the rear of this new row of houses.
The planning application has been in the making for some time, with pre-planning advice sought back in September last year. Planners are said to be ‘favourable’ to the submitted application.
Each house will have at least 2 parking spaces with parking for 14 cars in total.
no need and penny feather is not guaranteed to happen – we do not need that many houses on the island being built – there are not 900 families living in shop doorway needing homes – penny feathers is to import more people from the mainland – nothing else and must be stopped now.

This one will get approved because that is now the default legislation, IW Council having spectacularly failed to meet its affordable housing targets.

What good are three bedroomed houses too The Island? If you don’t want The Island to die put money into starter homes for our kids that are, affordable on a par to the working wage on The Island… (said tongue in cheek wages being so pitifully low! You won’t generate growth by importing 2nd home owners or retiring folk looking for the “quiet life” and who object to everything which would encourage our kids to stay here. Houses yes but aimed at wages and needs.. Not our Councils love of putting Brown envelopes in back pockets and turning a blind eye.!!
