Over 50 employees of London-based Newton Investment Management will walk 25 miles across the Isle of Wight today (Friday) to raise £50,000 for CASCAID, a city-wide initiative to generate vital funds for Cancer Research UK.
Staff have been training hard over the last few months, and the office has been buzzing with tales of adventurous commutes on foot, discussions over the best brand of blister plasters and furious debates as to who will be first (and last!) over the finish line.
Young people’s charity Challenge & Adventure and a team of volunteers are leading the group across the Island. Walkers were collected by the charity’s mini buses earlier this morning ahead of the walk beginning at Yaverland. Volunteers will be providing water and food at various checkpoints across the Island, plus hot drinks and bacon butties at the finish at The Needles Landmark Attraction.
