East Cowes charity MAD-AID is supporting a hospital in Moldova by sending a truck load of hospital beds from St Mary’s Hospital in Newport.
A truck was loaded with 40 electrical/profile beds and other items on Tuesday thanks to a donation by the Isle of Wight NHS Trust and the assistance of WBS. It’s the second truck sent this year.
The beds will make a direct difference to 2 hospital wards in Moldova. Without MAD-Aid this equipment would have been landfilled and scrapped.
A spokesperson for MAD-Aid has said:
“A huge thank you to the Recycling Department and Electronic department of the NHS who have collaborated with us for the last 6 years. This has resulted in an impressive 27 articulated lorry loads being donated abroad.
“The loading was possible with the help of Glen from WBS Direct who kindly donated his time and company forklift to get the job done!”
