100 people have now died with COVID-19 on the Isle of Wight since the start of the pandemic – a milestone no one wanted to reach.
Latest figures from NHS England reveal that 3 more Islanders have died after testing positive for the coronavirus, with all 3 deaths being listed as occurring at St Mary’s Hospital on 3rd December.
It takes the total number of people to have died at St Mary’s, with the virus, to 51. A total of 51 people have now died in hospital, alongside 45 deaths in care homes, 3 at home and 1 in the hospice.
The number of cases of COVID-19 on the Island is expected to reach 1,000 in the next few days.
