A total of 62 people infected with COVID-19 have now died on the Isle of Wight – 26 of them dying in care homes, at home or at the local hospice.
The latest figures from the Office for National Statistics show that the number of deaths in the community (up until 15th but not registered until 23rd May) has risen from 22 to 26.
When taking into account the confirmed hospital deaths, which currently sits at 36, the total death toll on the Island is now 62 out of just 196 confirmed cases.
35 people have recovered at St Mary’s Hospital, but it is unknown how many people have successfully recovered outside of the hospital environment.
Nationally, the number of deaths linked to COVID-19 has fallen to its lowest level in 6 weeks – a positive sign that the country is overcoming the pandemic.
36 people have now died at St Mary’s Hospital, 22 people have died in Island care homes, 3 have died at home and 1 at Mountbatten Hospice.

It wil guess worse… I drove past the driftwood cafe down yaverland yesterday and there was about 25 jet ski and 2 speed boats in the bay out side the cafe and probably around 40 people sat out side the cafe eating and drinking beer with no social distancing in place at all…..ridiculous
so what – get back to normal – the state has no business telling people they cannot sit together.
So what …..let’s hope u catch it and then watch u whinging that something should of been done to prevent this…idot
Anon you prat 40’000 people and their families would love to meet you and tell you different.
You sir are the prat! Couldn’t put your own socks on without being told how!
Honestly anon , these people are to dim to see, to dim to look at the facts. But will listen to the liars( government who have been proven to lie) to dim to research ,rather be spoon fed b.s from MSM, and the liars. How did the British public become such an easy push over? I’m Shocked at the lack of logical thought, and intelligence . To accept the ,do as I tell you ,not what I’m doing, says everything about these people. Sheep seems to fit quite nicely.
I agree mr justice,
walking around the town looking at the mindless drones doing what they are told, yet not having the temerity to even question it.
I mean … the uk government says – 2m social distancing.. the world health organisation says 1m social distancing – it is utter crap
both of those statements, yet the little hitlers at the shops act as though 2m is some sort of diktat from on high and as for the scared sheeple running out of your way in case they get closer than 2m is just wrong and proves that these individuals have lapped up every drop of this spoon fed dross.
sheep is about right.
What’s wrong with these people? No value for life either theirs or other people’s!! I honestly despair!!
When I went pass d there was about 6 there all social distancing but can’t under stand why hey are open and pubs shut
Didn’t think cafes were allowed to be serving drinks and food yet? Was it their own? I suppose they claim it’s take away but still sit outside?
Good on em living life to the full you only live once
Time they stopped messing with the death certificates is every body only dying from corona
Bob you can’t tell the truth! You will upset them all!
What is it Bob that you and other idiots like anon aren’t grasping? What is worrying when reading these comments pages is the amount of you out there. The virus will never be conquered until all the complacent people change their attitude.
You mean, believe the b.s that comes from the MSM or the liars( government) you are blind and dumb. You want us to all conform to the liars and your wishes, well Karen we will not, because we have freedom of thought ,unlike you!
I think bob and anon are the type of men that never leave the house and just sit behind a screen and wind people up because there lonely sad men
I pay.my taxes thanks and i also do as i like im a free man the summer here life to short to be a sheep do some research learn the truth by opening ur eyes maybe read some thing
carer56 – I have been working every day since this BS started and can happily state that I have only stayed indoors fully for about 2 days since march. I have been face to face with people everyday and never worn a face mask or gloves and nor have the people I have been face to face with.
none of us have had any problems at all since this BS started and I am not talking about one or two people – I see many, many people a day.
you assume my gender also – foolish error.
Quite agree Carer56. Brainless control freaks. Pathetic in normal circumstances but dangerous in the current climate. Just saddos.
Wake up Anxious. Go out down the beach, enjoy yourself. A glorious day today, beach was pretty packed. The only idiots are people like you believing this.
Do the research listen to the doctors and people who are willing to speak out the stuff they dont put on the bbc open your eyes the flu kills thousands every year why lock every one up now. people are waking up to the fact all there human rights are being taken away we aint idiots for having an opinion its been ok for people to go to work pay there taxes but not see there families or enjoy the summer sun wake up
While we must respect privacy, it would be useful to know where on the island these deaths occurred. it wouldn’t surprise me if the deaths were in clusters, and parts of the island remain covid free. instead, we all have to be kept in this state of worry.
Yes I agree and how many people are in hospital and how many on ventilators, how many have underlying problems. Just hope the Island can not have visitors yet . Obviously the app did not work what a surprise as more people need to be tested for this to work, when passing the testing centre it is always empty. I would even pay to be tested .
Day 56 of Lockdown, I have learnt how to perform self-fellatio
