UPDATED: A 23-year-old man has been charged with multiple offences including dangerous driving following a Police pursuit in Ashey during the early hours of this morning (Tuesday).
Officers are thought to have brought the driver to a halt on Ashey Road near to Bettsworth Road sometime before 01:00. A local Police dog unit tracked the suspect before moving in for the arrest.
Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that the unnamed man has been remanded in custody having been charged with dangerous driving, 2 counts of driving whilst disqualified, 2 counts of driving without insurance and possession of a controlled drug, namely cannabis.
The man will appear before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court tomorrow.
Meanwhile a 54-year-old woman from Ryde, who was arrested overnight for an unconnected drink driving offence, has also been charged by Police. She blew 117 – the legal limit is 35.
UPDATE WEDNESDAY – The 23-year-old man pleaded guilty to all charges at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court this morning.
He has been remanded in custody until 16th June, when he will appear for sentencing at the Isle of Wight Crown Court.
