Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue (GAFIRS) were out on the Solent when they spotted the pair struggling at the mouth to Wootton Creek.
The paddleboarders were brought ashore to Wightlink’s Fishbourne terminal, where members of Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team were on hand to assist and offer safety advice.
Wightlink has been thanked for the help offered by ferry and terminal staff.
If you or someone else is in difficulty on the coast or at sea, or if you spot what you think may be unexploded ordnance, then dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Further safety information can be found at https://coastguardsafety.campaign.gov.uk/.
