2 people escaped death after falling from a cliff in the South Wight whilst celebrating Bonfire Night last night (Tuesday).
It was at around 21:00 that emergency services were alerted to worrying reports that 2 individuals had accidentally fallen from a significant height at Blackgang.
Island Echo understands a group of people were setting off fireworks and enjoying Bonfire Night celebrations on a path near the View Point Car Park when the incident occurred.
HM Coastguard mobilised Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team and Needles Coastguard Rescue Team to the scene, with paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service also responding.
It was initially feared that the 2 casualties could have been seriously injured – or worse – due to the heights involved. The cliff towers above the nearby theme park.
Coastguards used access points at Blackgang Chine to eventually locate the pair in amongst the woodland and extract them to safety.
After some time, the duo were passed into the care of the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service for onward conveyance to St Mary’s Hospital.
So irresponsible, puts Emergency Services lives at risk
and overwhelms the struggling NHS
People like this need to be billed.
I am glad these two people are ok but it just goes to show there are some really stupid people around
My guess is approx 90% of people are stupid from what
I see on a daily basis.
The Island is full of grown ups behaving like
Babies sucking on their Vapes 24/7
It’s embarrassing to see.
If you act in a pathetic manner you get what you deserve.
Well that was stupid behaviour wasn’t it ?
