Data released by Public Health England this afternoon (Wednesday) shows another confirmed case of COVID-19 locally.
157 Islanders have now been confirmed as having coronavirus – a rise of just 1 from 156 on Tuesday.
Despite increased testing through the facility at Medina and home testing via the NHSX app, the number of cases on the Island has not skyrocketed. The Island still has one of the lowest infection rates in the country (110.9).
NHS England report that there have now been 32 coronavirus deaths in hospital, with the Office for National Statistics confirming a further 14 people have died in the community.
The latest information from the Isle of Wight NHS Trust confirms 25 people have recovered from COVID-19 and have been discharged from hospital, although this number has not been updated in some time.
Ask the iow NHS trust to supply the number of recovered people
NO, what I want to know is how many ‘recovered’ are in a life changed serious bad way. We are being kept in the dark over this, likely to avoid panic, but we should be told everything.

Sweden – no lockdown – population 10 million – deaths from covid – 3460 – equates to 0.0346% of the population
UK -lockdown – population 66 million – deaths from covid – 33186 – equates to 0.05% of the population.
As you can see – more people have died as a percentage of the population in the UK in comparison to Sweden that never locked down anything to the same degree as the UK

Food for thought. The national average of deaths per 100 cases of covid-19 is 14.29%. On the Island it’s just over 25%.
Also the death rate per covid-19 case in Germany is 0.7%. Germany also has massively lower “excess deaths” over the normal expected number at this time of year.
What worries me is we have 32 deaths in hospital and 14 in the community on the island as of yesterday , but in July they want to open holiday parks etc here . Surely more people flooding to the iow will cause a increase in numbers , money is not as important as our health and life’s of loved ones ,were fortunate to live on a island when there’s a crisis like this because of smaller numbers than the mainland , not much good if they all come over starting July ,.
