The Friends of Shanklin Theatre recently donated over £1,500 to the Royal British Legion (RBL).
Thanks to funds raised from the sale of a special ‘Saving The Theatre 2008-2018’ pin badge, which features a poppy, a total of £1,550 was handed over to the RBL last month.
It was decided earlier this year that after deducting the production costs of the badges, 50% of the proceeds would go to the Shanklin branch of the RBL and the other 50% would go towards the theatre’s refurbishment programme.
Friends of Shanklin Theatre Chairman Janet Wardle and Vice Chairman Michael Beston presented a cheque to the RBL Shanklin branch treasurer and secretary.
Mr Beston has said:
“Our thanks go to all our dedicated volunteers who were directly involved, and continued to be involved in the sales of our pins.
“We have a very limited number of pins remaining for purchase. Thank you for your continued support”.
