A white-tailed eagle has returned to the Isle of Wight after a staggering 3,047-mile journey as far north as the Yorkshire Moors.
G3-93 was released into the wild at Bouldnor in the Summer of 2019 and has spent the past 17 months – to the day – exploring the length and breadth of England, spending extended time in Yorkshire, Norwich and the Thames Valley.
The male bird returned home to the Island on Monday afternoon having clocked up 4,904km and 71,036 GPS points.
Data collected gives the Roy Dennis Foundation an incredible insight into the eagle’s explorations and how he has learnt to live successfully in the English landscape.

It’s a wild animal. The domestic cat is the invasive species. It’s sad but the alternative would be criminal on so many levels.
Very impressive but I think the writer should check their facts, the map shows the eagle didn’t go anywhere near Norwich! Norfolk, yes, but not Norwich!! It seemed to spend a lot of time centred on Sandringham! Say no more! 🙂
