Barratt Developments, made up of Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes, has announced a record half-year of house sales, despite the ongoing COVID crisis.
The company, that is building homes on the Isle of Wight, recorded 9,077 house completions in the 6-month period ending 31st December 2020, up 9.2% from the previous year.
These impressive results reflect underlying market strength and pent up demand following the initial lockdown. The company has also seen great results from the stamp duty holiday and the March 2021 end of Help to Buy for existing homeowners.
Plus, the company has benefitted from tremendous offers to buyers that could be used in addition to any Government incentives, such as the NHS deposit contribution scheme and Armed Forces discount scheme.
Jon Green, Managing Director of Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ Southampton division, has said:

This is welcome news to homebuyers across the country that have had their moving plans put on hold because of the pandemic.

I fully agree with you on the lack of the 10 year NHBC warranty as all you get is their 5 year offering.
How can they fail when HM Gov keeps throwing our money at them (Help to Buy, Stamp Duty reduction, presumption in favour of Planning Consent…)
Every home another few people looking for a job that no longer exists, or a school place, or another person in front of the queue at the doctors, the hospital, the dentist, the parking space, etc etc.

Any builder I know would have traditional built any day.
I suppose it helps their profit margins by building the smallest size houses they can get away with.
This is why so many choose not to use any contraception, for to buy a shoebox you need both to have a good job and save for years going without, OR you can have a one night stand, and at the front of the housing list.
NO choice now the Island has more people chasing few jobs.
