At Ventnor Carnival’s monthly committee meeting on Wednesday (22nd February), local charity PATCH (People’s Approach To Cancer Help) was donated the sum of £200.
Earlier on this year Ventnor Carnival’s chairman, Teresa Preston, promised that if by the end of the carnival events – and after paying the approximate £9,000 that it takes to run the carnival – there was any excess money, it would be put back into Ventnor community in some way.
It was a unanimous committee decision that PATCH should be the receiver of this excess. As a locally arranged and organised charity, PATCH helps to alleviate financial strain for cancer patients. This might mean transport costs to get them to treatments, or financial support in home situations where employment has become impossible.
The committee felt that PATCH was an ideal charity to support which anyone in Ventnor can benefit from.
Ventnor Carnival’s next event is a coffee morning and Queen’s selection on Saturday 25th March. All are welcome to have a chat and bring any budding young princesses or queens to try for the honour of representing Ventnor for 2017.
