UPDATED: The body of a man has been discovered in a caravan at a holiday park in Bembridge this afternoon (Friday).
Police have cordoned off a static caravan at Sandhills Holiday Park off Peacock Hill, where the discovery was made at shortly before 15:00 following concerns for the welfare of an individual.
Firefighters from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are in attendance at the scene, however it is currently unknown if gas or any other hazard have played a part in the death.
The caravan’s windows and doors have been opened wide.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are also at the scene, however have been unable to resuscitate the individual, who is thought to be holidaying on the Island.
UPDATE @ 16:30 – Police have confirmed they are not treating the death of the male as suspicious.
Fire and ambulance crews have now left the scene, which remains cordoned off.
The holiday park remains open as normal.
