The Isle of Wight Branch of the Worker’s Educational Association (WEA) has recently moved home to Parkside Pavilion in East Cowes – the town where it all began.
Classes began in East Cowes with a group of young mums and soon developed to draw in older students. Numbers meant that 2 sessions a week could be run and this continues today. Several years ago the groups moved to the tutor’s studio in Wootton but, following the sale of the studio, the classes have now been relocated to Parkside Pavilion on Vectis Road with a new tutor, which brings the Island’s WEA branch full circle back to it’s origins.
Parkside Pavilion has been newly refurbished and is a light, airy venue which has welcomed the WEA with enthusiasm. Friendly, informal sessions where students can learn new skills and develop their creativity, gain more confidence, meet new people, make friends and have fun are on offer. Everyone is welcome to try what is on offer.
