The Motivational Preparation College for Training (MPCT) group, which helps young people build life skills, self-confidence, and fitness through active learning, has been chosen as 1 of 8 finalists for the Times Education Supplement (TES) Further Education Awards 2017.

The Ofsted Outstanding training provider’s flagship offering is the Military Preparation College. Run by ex-military instructors and free to attend due to Government funding, its ‘roll on, roll off’ policy means that students can join at any time throughout the academic year.

MPCT run a college at Playstreet Lane, Ryde alongside 19 other colleges across England and Wales and has been committed to the development of young people since 1999. This year’s nomination follows the organisation reaching the 10,000th learner milestone.

Through the College’s active learning approach, it ensures each and every student has the best possible chance of passing selection for the Armed Forces, and completing basic training. It also helps young people move forward with further education, training and other employment routes by instilling valuable core values and life skills that are transferable to a range of vocations.

Huw Lewis MBE, Founder and Managing Director of MPCT, comments:

“We are honoured to be recognised once again by TES as a leading education provider. Our success over the last year reflects our dedication to supporting young people and the success of our alternative learning approach.

“Many of the young people who enroll on MPCT’s programme have not had a positive experience during their time in compulsory education. Our college proves that goals can be achieved with the right approach, environment and allowing each learner to have individual goals.”

The winners of the TES FE Awards will be revealed at a glittering ceremony at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on Friday 24th February 2017.
