A teenage promoter from the Isle of Wight has announced the launch of his very own music event business, Atmos Music.
Luke Joynes, 18, has already promoted shows with the likes of RHAIN and Noah and the Whale founding member Matt Owens, with a number of dates planned for the rest of the year.
His brand, Atmos Music, is about staging gigs in unique spaces and creating the best atmosphere possible, hence the name ‘Atmos’.
To kick off his ever-growing calendar of events, Luke will be hosting an Atmos Music launch party at the Blacksheep Bar on Friday 28th April with some of the Island’s up and coming teenage bands: Gyerphage, Eton Girls’ Choir, Goo Lagoon, Avocado Sunrise and Freazy.
Then, on Friday 2nd June, Atmos Music will return to the Blacksheep to host ‘Blacksheep Bassment’ featuring a number of local drum ‘n’ bass DJs, in collaboration with local DJ Alfie Hancock.
In July, Atmos Music will be promoting 2 shows with London singer-songwriter Tim Arnold at the Ventnor Exchange and Portsmouth’s historic Square Tower.
Finally, on Sunday 13th August at Ventnor Park, Atmos Music will be hosting Party In The Park as part of the Ventnor Fringe Festival.
Luke has been involved in the music industry since the age of just 13, when he founded the Isle of Wight Music Festivals Fansite. This has seen him reviewing festivals, including the Isle of Wight Festival, Bestival and Victorious Festival, and interviewing the likes of Rob da Bank, The Shires and Ward Thomas.
He said:
“The Isle of Wight has an abundance of talented up and coming musicians, but the real challenge for them is finding venues to show audiences what they can do. That’s where I hope Atmos Music comes in.
“Local promoters come and go, and there never seems to be a sustainable music brand on the Island, so I’m hoping to break this cycle”.
