An Isle of Wight vape shop owner, Ape Vapes in Newport, has contacted Island Echo to raise awareness about purchasing illegal and potentially dangerous vaping products that are on sale here on the Isle of Wight.
Vaping products are controlled by Tobacco and Related Products Regulations (TRPR). These regulations limit the amount of nicotine in vaping liquids to what government scientists consider to be a safe level.
But it’s claimed that illegal products are being sold in shops across the Island.
The concerned vape shop owner has said:
“In short, anything that is over 2ml capacity and 800 puffs is illegal and should not be sold in the UK. 9 times out of 10, the 2% nicotine content stated is never correct on the higher puff devices due to their coming from abroad, and they are normally around 50mg.
“Due to them being a current trend, a lot of people that are buying them are unaware of the potential health implications as they have not been tested”.
Some of the vaping products claimed to be illegal, which have been bought on the Isle of Wight, are shown below. They are either without ECID (European Community Identification) numbers or with ECID numbers that are unknown to the relevant government website.
Mild effects of nicotine poisoning include the following symptoms: increased salivation, stomach cramps, diarrhoea, headaches and other symptoms such as confusion or agitation. More serious effects of overdosing on nicotine (which is unlikely to occur through vaping) may include: coma and seizures, slowed heart rate and, in the worst cases, respiratory failure.
Nicotine might not be as poisonous as some claim, but it certainly is poisonous if taken in excessive quantities.

I love my baby dummy. best thing i ever did was giving up tobacco for a vape. the benefits for me personally were amazing so ppppfffftttt! and hey if i could afford to put cocaine in it why not
Bring back tobacco. That’ll solve the problem and it’s already regulated!
