Police have confirmed the sudden death of a festivalgoer in their 40s at this year’s Isle of Wight Festival. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary was alerted to the incident in the campsite area at 10:51 yesterday morning (Thursday), just as Day 1 of the 4-day event got underway. Officers attended the scene, alongside medics, but there was nothing that could be done. A woman in her 40s was confirmed as deceased at the scene. Her family have been made aware. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner. A spokesperson for the Isle of Wight Festival has said:
“The team at the Isle of Wight Festival are deeply saddened by the passing of a festivalgoer on Thursday morning. “Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with her family and friends”.
