After working for the Isle of Wight Youth Trust for some 29 years, Eileen Monks OBE has retired as Director of the Youth Trust.
An intimate gathering of Youth Trust staff and Trustees, past and present, as well as a few notable supporters including Major General Martin White CB CBE JP, HM Lord-Lieutenant of the Isle of Wight, joined to celebrate Eileen’s achievements at One Holyrood Street in Newport.
Youth Trust Chair of Trustees Ken Dueck said:
“The Youth Trust is tremendously grateful for the years of dedication and total service Eileen has given to us and the young people of the Isle of Wight. We wish her a very happy, fulfilled and very well deserved retirement.”
The incumbent Director, Mairead Healy, praised Eileen’s hard work in taking the Youth Trust from strength to strength:
“Last year, the Youth Trust offered 4,762 counselling sessions to children and young people across the Isle of Wight. This is a huge increase from the 914 sessions offered by the Youth Trust in 2003 when Eileen was new to the role.
“Eileen has touched the lives of so many children, young people and families across the Island and has been a dedicated champion of young people’s needs. She has led with incredible dedication, passion and commitment without which the Youth Trust would not be what it is today.”
As previously reported by Island Echo, Mairead Healy has been appointed as the new Director.
